Lecture: Religion in a Pluralistic Society: The South African Case

Professor P. Coertzen, South-Africa

The Centre for Religion and Law organizes on Friday March 9, 2012 at 3:00 pm the third Fridayafternoon lecture in room 13A-11 (main building of the VU University). The Centre was instituted in 2001 and is a collaborative venture of the juridical and theological faculties.
Professor P. Coertzen will present his lecture: Religion in a Pluralistic Society: The South African Case. The reason for his lecture is the publication of the South African Charter of Religious Rights and Freedoms. Representatives of the religious communities in South-Africa joined their forces regarding this charter.
Professor P. Coertzen is emeritus-professor of the Faculty of Theology at the Stellenbosch University, South-Africa, former dean of this faculty and as from 2003 visiting professor Comparative Church Law at the Faculty of Canon Law in Leuven, Belgium. He is the Chair of the Unit for Religion and Law at the Beyers Naude Centre for Public Theology at the Faculty of Theology, Stellenbosch University.

Drinks afterwards.
